Root canal retreatment in Ramat Beit Shemesh.

A root canal done years ago can reinfect or never fully settle. When that happens for a Ramat Beit Shemesh patient, Dr. Gabriel Joel, DMD reopens the tooth, clears out the old canal, and refills it in-house — USA-trained, with advanced training in endodontics. The clinic is a short drive away on Harav Kook 28/1 in Beit Shemesh, with same-day appointments when a tooth that was already treated starts hurting again.

Questions

Common questions.

Does a root canal hurt?

With modern anesthesia, the tooth being treated is fully numb during the procedure. Most patients feel pressure, not pain — the pain people associate with root canals is usually the infection itself, before treatment.

How do I know if I need a root canal or an extraction?

It depends on how much healthy tooth structure is left and whether the infection has damaged the surrounding bone. We'll always try to save the natural tooth with a root canal first, and only recommend extraction when a tooth genuinely can't be saved.

Can antibiotics replace a root canal?

No. Antibiotics can calm an infection temporarily, but they don't remove the damaged tissue inside the tooth causing it. Without treatment, the infection typically returns.

Why does tooth pain get worse at night?

Lying down increases blood flow to the head, which raises pressure inside an already inflamed tooth. Night pain is a common sign the nerve is affected and worth getting checked rather than waiting out.

What if I can't get an appointment today?

Message us on WhatsApp with your symptoms — we triage every message and will tell you honestly whether it can wait or needs to be seen same-day.
